It’s not about Covid
High end restaurant , Tavern , Pub or club it doesn’t matter . We are all bound by the fact that we have to abide by the rules of the same hand book.
We understand the serious effects of the pandemic but at the same time feel our industry has been penalized more than others .
Most of us in this business didn’t know the power the NYSLA had over our lively hoods . Many have been in business for ten years or more without a violation and now face thousands of dollars in fines or worse have to buy back their liquor license from the state.
Anyone who has received violations recently knows the feeling of annoyance and frustration over what exactly happened . The expense of hiring a SLA attorney to plead down the excessive fines and mull through the confusing paperwork . There is the also the worry of the effect on the business monetarily and the previously untarnished ten year old liquor license record .The state on the other hand has seen a new form of revenue during the pandemic .
What’s Next
In the past five years your local police officer has been trained on every NYSLA infraction listed in the handbook that you may or may not be guilty or even aware off
It’s time to read your handbook and realize that it was designed to handicap you and leave the future of your business in the hands of whoever walks through your door acting as an agent for NYSLA .
